Who needs a license?

The Town of Ruston requires a general business license for all businesses operating within the Ruston town limits, including businesses physically located outside town limits that perform services for customers inside town limits. Town approval is required for initial issuance.

Temporary licenses

Temporary business licenses must be obtained directly from the Town of Ruston.

Exempt businesses

The following aren’t required to get a general business license in Ruston:

  • Government entities
  • Nonprofit businesses

Under what circumstances is a business license denied?

A license may be denied if the application:

  • Is incomplete.
  • Contains any material misrepresentation.
  • Doesn’t meet the city’s zoning requirements.
